About Me

Who? Me?
My name is Martin Munthe and I am an independent filmmaker and I run this website. My goal with this site is for it to be inspirational and informative if you’re a filmmaker like I am – making your own kinds of films and setting down your own kinds of rules.
I’ve worked in the industry a lot of years. I’ve done commercial work and music videos and short films and feature films. I’ve worked as a Director, Second Unit Director, DoP, VFX Supervisor, Compositor, Post Production Producer, Work Flow Wizard, Make Up Artist, Composer, Writer, Video Editor, Sound Editor…you name it. I’ve worked on every budget level – from Rediculously Expensive to Shoestring. Of all the things I’ve done I would say there’s one thing I’m really good at;
Getting Things Done Fast.
I shot my first feature film on 35mm in five weeks. Did 72 setups in one day of huge stunts and pyro technics. My second film was shot in two weeks on absolutely no budget. 10 pages of script each day. The same goes for my third film. 10 pages a day. Shot my third in HDCAM in a HUGE set I also built using a very basic lighting kit. My fourth film will be released this year. Shot that in three days. In Stereo3D. I’m drawn to that kind of productions even though I know it’s going to show production flaws that you can erase if you’ve got a big budget and month to shoot. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Been there – done that.
My films are now available world wide. Both in the legit way – crowding in the many video stores around the globe and through Network Television. But also through non-legit outlets on the Internet. And I take that seriously. When your films is being downloaded hundreds of thousand’s of times each month it means something.
The future of original content.
It is my firm belief is that to give back as much as possible to the community of filmmakers around me will make my world a better place to live and work in. Filmmaking has come a long way since it’s inception – but it also have a long way to go ahead of it. It’s constantly transforming because the audience is transforming how they live their life and how they watch films. For good or bad – and I believe mostly good. I’m absolutely certain of one thing; There will always be a place for non packaged, intelligent, smart and original films. Human kind will eventually get tired of too much of the same thing. And I believe that todays really interesting filmmakers are embracing technology and the possibility the web provides to connect with the like minded out there.
Keep you desktop tidy and your batteries fresh. ‘Til next time. /Martin
